MISSION DIRECTIVE

MISSION DIRECTIVE: TO CULTIVATE CULTURE:

-  Utilization of “The Evolving of Reid High School” from, first being called the “Colored School of Belmont” to an excellent school of higher learning; thus, enriching the lives of many African-Americans for many generations.  And, still, the “culture” of Reid High speaks to us today thru active alumni associations and the Junior  Reid RAMS (JR2).

-   Utilization of the “Belmont Mass Choir”, now solely sponsored by the Foundation, to bring forth a diversity of music that includes, in part:  Negro Spirituals, Hymns, Old School, Contemporary Gospel, Jazz;  along with a wide repertoire of at-large music.

-  Utilization of the “Reid Ancestral Home”, built by Professor Charles Jesse Bynum Reid & Mrs. Maude Herndon Reid in 1920, serving as a “cultural center of note”.  This home includes; memorabilia of Reid High (pictures of Reid School Principals, Teachers and Staff). Also, the second floor (3) bedrooms are named in memory of: Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr; with memorabilia and pictures.

-  Utilization of various creative artists for added cultural enlightenment:  Mr. Lacy/Poet; Mrs. Noel/Charlotte Black History Tours, and others we come to know.

-  Utilization of all races of people and ethnicities.

MISSION DIRECTIVE: TO CULTIVATE CAREER:

-  Utilization of various careers being presented on line for our Junior RAMS, and adults-at-large; proposed to be led by Mrs. Wanda Weeks as RAMS Program Director.

-  Utilization of cover letter, proper application completion, interviewing and resume assistance to be offered to all.

-  Utilization of “Job Shadowing” and “Field Trips”.

-  Utilization of a “College/University Career Day”.

MISSION DIRECTIVE: TO CULTIVATE COMMUNITY:

-  Utilization of the “Focus On Leadership Development (FOLD)” Program that will allow the Board the opportunity to empower and encourage persons in our community, by way of workshops and added training,  to volunteer for civic involvement and run for public office.

-  Utilization of our upcoming Facebook and Web Site to offer added community communication and strengthening.
